All you need to know about the Holmfirth Festival of Folk

All of the necessary information is available on the Camping page. 

Venues

You should be able to find the venues by referring to the map within the programme, but please ask at the Festival Office in the Old Bridge Hotel if you have any problems. Please note that we have included information on accessibility this year to help you make informed decisions as to which venues might be suitable if you have impaired mobility.

 

The Festival Office is located in The Old Bridge Hotel, which is in the centre of Holmfirth across the bridge from the bus station. Our friendly voluinteers will assist you with queries about anything, to purchase tickets, programmes and merchandise, including t-shirts, tote bags, badges and our 2021 Live Streaming CD. Timetable for shuttle bus to and from the campsite is also available here.

There is level access into the building and a wheelchair accessible toilet. Access is not possible to all levels of the building inside. Blue badge parking is a short distance away in the public car park.

 

Box Office – behind the Picturedrome. The venue for the Saturday and Sunday afternoon extravaganzas brought to us by Steve Ansell.

Barmania - down the ginnel just before you get to The Nook. Sessions welcome upstairs

Non wheelchair accessible toilet upstairs

 

Civic Hall - for concerts, the evening Ceilidh (ticket only) and some workshops. The hall is on Huddersfield Road. If you haven’t booked tickets online then come to the festival office in advance - some tickets may be available. The Small Civic Hall is up two flights of stairs on the left. The Large Civic Hall is on the left up a few stairs.

There is level access via a ramp, a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor and access by lift to the floors that are used as venues. Blue badge parking is nearby.

 

Cask - Huddersfield Road next to O’Briens. See programme for featured artistes.

There is a small step into the venue (no level access) and no wheelchair accessible toilet.

 

Cooper's Yard - up Cooper Lane (steep). See programme for featured artistes. This venue is up a steep incline with a drop-off space in front.

There is level access to the building and internal ramps to most of the internal levels. There is wheelchair accessible toilet. Blue badge spaces are in the public car park a couple of streets away.

 

Cricket Club - Bridge Lane, just off Huddersfield Road. See programme for featured artistes.

Elephant and Castle - located on Hollowgate. See programme for featured artistes.

The only level access is to the rear of the building and leads to a narrow internal door which would not admit a wheelchair. There is no wheelchair accessible toilet and limited access to different levels inside. Blue badge parking is a longer distance away in the public car park.

 

Farmers Arms - Liphill Bank Rd, Holmfirth HD9 2LR. Just outside of the town centre a “good” walking distance away but well worth the effort. See programme for featured artistes on Saturday.

Holme Coffee House - on the edge of Crown Bottom Car Park (known locally as the Co-op car park, next to the Methodist Church. See programme for featured artistes on Saturday and Sunday.

There is no level access into the venue, and no wheelchair accessible toilet. It is near to blue badge parking in the public car park and the Co-Op which has a disabled toilet during opening hours.

 

Holmfirth Methodist Church - for workshops, family and children’s entertainment and a whole lot more! Follow the footpath from the corner of the bus station, through the memorial gardens and across the bridge.

There is level access into the building and access to all levels. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet and some limited parking to the rear of the building. It is near to blue badge parking in the public car park and the Co-Op which has a disabled toilet during opening hours.

 

Holmfirth Parish Church – location for the Friday afternoon/evening schools’ concert and a Saturday teatime concert. The church is in the centre of the town, opposite the Old Bridge Hotel and next to Sid's Cafe.

There is level access into the building and access to all levels. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet and it is near to a public car park with Blue badge parking.

 

The Nook - tucked away behind the Tap House down a small ginnel. Events are inside on the left and in the beer garden out the back. See programme for featured artistes

There is level access via a permanent ramp into the building but inside there are inaccessible levels. There is no wheelchair accessible toilet. The music outside in the rear courtyard is possible to gain access through a gate to the side to reach that area. Blue badge parking is a short distance away in public park car parks

 

Nowhere - Norridge Bottom in between Y's Bar and Snap and the Sainsbury's Local. Accessed via Huddersfield Road (opposite O’Brien's) or the Old Bridge Car park.

There is level access into the building and a wheelchair accessible toilet. There is no access to all the levels of the building and it is the upstairs area that is used as a venue for the festival. It is near to blue badge spaces in the public car parks

 

 

O’Briens - Huddersfield Road, opposite Norridge Bottom entrance. See programme for featured artistes.

There is a small step to the main entrance. There is no wheelchair accessible toilet and some levels of the building may not be accessible to wheelchair users.

 

Holmfirth Tech - for folk clubs. On the corner of Bridge Lane and Huddersfield Road, opposite the Fire Station. Folk clubs on Friday and Saturday (£6 on door for non weekend ticket holders). Bar available.

There is level access but it is at the bottom of a steep slope where there is some car parking. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet and access to other parts of the building is via a lift.

 

Old Bridge Hotel - the hub of the festival. Across the footbridge from the bus station.

There is level access into the building and a wheelchair accessible toilet. Access is not possible to all levels of the building inside. Blue badge parking is a short distance away in the public car park.

 

Picturedrome - gigs are ticket only and can be bought online or from the Box Office at the venue, not from the Festival Office. The Picturedrome is next to the Old Bridge Hotel.

 

Postcard - Huddersfield Road opposite the Civic Hall. See programme for featured artistes.

The building has level access and blue badge parking is nearby. There is not level access to all levels of the building inside and there is no wheelchair accessible toilet.

 

Sid’s Cafe - Next to the Parish Church. Open all weekend for food and drinks. Hosts the Spoken Word event Saturday teatime.

There is a step to the front of the building, no wheelchair accessible toilet and no portable ramps. Blue badge spaces are in the public car park across the road.

 

Taphouse - Next to Holmfirth Opticians at the bottom of Dunford Road. See programme for featured artistes.

Access to the building is not level. There is a disabled toilet but it may not be fully wheelchair accessible.

Stewards

​Become a volunteer steward to get more involved 

 

Holmfirth Festival of Folk would not happen each year without the help of it's happy band of volunteer stewards. Would you like to be part of the action? There are lots of ways to help. Ticket collecting, venue management, collecting and selling programmes, escorting the Procession and helping behind the scenes. Interested?

Festival Office

The Festival Office will be open during the course of the festival in the foyer of The Old Bridge Hotel in the town centre. Visit here with any questions, for programmes and tickets.
