IMPORTANT INFORMATION. The following information has been written to enable everyone i.e. Visitors and Residents to enjoy the weekend in Holmfirth, and more importantly to allow us and others to enjoy it next year.

This year there will be 2 Wardens caravans, one of which will be open 24hrs a day, should you have any questions or need any help.

PARKING ARRANGEMENTS

Once your Campervan is parked, we hope there will be no reason to use it during the weekend. No vehicles/ camping allowed on Football pitch.

Due to the high number of campers last year we anticipate greater numbers this year. To accommodate as many campers as possible on the field site you will be asked to park your vehicle in the Bridge Mills Ltd car park (who has kindly allowed us to use their private car park) located at the bottom of New Road, which is a 2 minute walk away. From the main road, turn right up New Road and turn left through the blue gates then take the right fork up hill to a large car park. (Do not use car park by buildings, this is for Mill personnel). The car park will be locked overnight from 9pm and will be open again at 8am in the morning. The car park keys will be kept at the Wardens caravan should an emergency arise and you need access to your car during these hours. Under no circumstances will Bridge Mills Ltd, Holme Valley Business Association, Holmfirth Festival of Folk be liable for any damage or theft from your car whilst parked in the Bridge Mills Ltd car park. Please make sure your car is removed from the Bridge Mills Ltd car park by 8pm on Sunday 11 th May.

WATER

The use of the tap has been kindly allowed by the resident living across the river. Just go over the small bridge at entrance to car park and the water is on the left.

SHOWERS

The showers are situated in the Brown Units down by the swimming pool. They will be open from 9am to 10am on Saturday and again in the evening from 6pm to 7.30pm and on Sunday from 9am to 10am. The Gents showers are at one end of the building the Ladies at the other. Only some of the showers in each unit are working, please be patient. The Upperthong football club have kindly let us use them for free. Should you not wish to use these showers the Swimming pool is open to the general public from 3pm to 4pm on the Saturday should you wish to use their showers, which cost nearly as much as a swim ticket.

FESTIVAL PROGRAMMES

These can be purchased from the Wardens caravans for a bargain price of £1 which gives loads of information about the Singers and Musicians, Festival Venues, Workshops, Dance Sides and the timetable for the weekend. (A reet gud reed).

FESTIVAL OFFICE

This is situated in the Old Bridge hotel in the centre of Holmfirth. This will be open from 4.00 to 10pm on Friday, 10.30am to 8pm on Saturday and from 10.30am to 3.30pm on the Sunday.

From the office you can purchase a Ceilidh ticket which is on Saturday night at the Market Hall.

And finally

This year you will need to display 2 site permits, 1 on your vehicle and the other on your Tent/Caravan.

Respect the fact that some people will want to sleep, especially the very nearby residents (one of which has kindly allowed us to use his water and electricity) and keep the site quiet between 11pm and 8am. Remember that sound carries a long way.

Place all rubbish in the bins provided.

Please leave the toilets as you would wish to find them.

Please keep your dogs and children under control.

STRICTLY NO CAMPFIRES ALLOWED. Anyone who breaks this rule will be asked to leave the site immediately. Remember we will want to be able to use the site again next year.

If using a disposable BBQ, please make sure it is not placed directly on the grass as this leaves a black patch for everyone to see and don’t put hot BBQ ashes in the bins.

Leave the site clean and tidy. The site closes at 8pm on Sunday, please make sure you and your belongings are off the field by 8pm.

Holmfirth Festival of Folk wishes to acknowledge the assistance provided by Upperthong Football Club, Kirklees Metropolitan Council, the resident across the river and Bridge Mills Ltd.
